Summer's Brain Tumor Battle

Hello- My name is Silky Sharma, and I am Summer’s friend.

Who is Summer Babin?
Summer – is a 33-year-old caring, generous, and hardworking person who works as a server at a local restaurant. She has shown strength throughout her life and has found ways to help others in need. Summer has four kids (Allison -14, Manny-12, Noah-8 (has Autism), Aubrey -6 years old) and was a gestational surrogate mother to a couple. Summer is married to her high school sweetheart, Manny, an employee of Costco. Summer cannot work due to her medical condition, and Manny is currently on leave taking care of Summer and the kids.

Surrogate Mother
Summer took on the noble mission of being a gestational surrogate to a family. She brought happiness to a couple facing fertility issues for a decade by giving them a healthy child. Summer underwent many treatments, including taking multiple ultrasounds, frequent bloodwork, and daily multiple injections to be a surrogate mother. After bringing joy, light, and life to another family, Summer is battling for her own life today.

Initial Hospitalisation- Brain Tumor Diagnosed
Mid-February 2023, Summer was taken to the Good Shepherd ER in Barrington for severe headaches, impaired vision, nausea, and vomiting. After the CT scan, the Dr. diagnosed her with a tumor on the frontal lobe extending to the temporal and other brain areas.

Due to the complexity of the most likely malignant tumor, the Neurosurgeon at the Good Shepard hospital decided to transfer her for tertiary care. Summer stayed at the UIC hospital for five days and underwent CT scans, MRIs, and cerebral angiogram.

Brain Surgery
Surgery is scheduled for March 10th, followed by a biopsy, which may take up to ten days for results. According to the Neurosurgeon, the complete removal of the malignant tumor is impossible, so the further treatment plan is contingent upon the biopsy result.

Where will the money go
The expenses associated with treatment and care for malignant tumors can quickly become overwhelming for anyone. Summer and her family are bearing this pain one day at a time. Setting up this GoFundMe campaign will help alleviate some of Summer’s and her family’s financial burden.

Every little bit helps, and I am grateful for your contribution. Your support will help with medical expenses and provide much-needed emotional support and encouragement during this challenging time.

Please share this page with family and friends. I appreciate your kindness and generosity, and thank you for your support.
