Summer Program Tuition Fundraiser
Dear friends and family,
I am turning to you to request your support to help me take part in an exciting venture this summer which will greatly benefit my future academic choices and career.
Recently, I have been invited to participate in the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) Medicine summer program, run by George Mason University at University of Maryland’s College Park campus. This program offers students the opportunity to gain exposure to cutting-edge specialties in the field of medicine.
Allow me to explain a bit how I got interested in medicine. In seventh grade, I started volunteering at the Gudelsky Swim Program at the local JCC, to satisfy my 76 required Student Service Learning (SSL) Hours for high school graduation. In the Gudelsky program, I have been trained to teach disabled people to swim and give them the relief of physical freedom through aquatic therapy. Fast forward 3.5 years, I am still excited to enter the pool every Saturday, to put smiles on these people's faces. For the last 2 years, I have been working with an 8-year old girl who just recently learned to swim on her own. Her expression of excitement over this great accomplishment was one of the most rewarding moments of my life. My experiences at Gudelsky and the support and important lessons learned from the dedicated staff and physical therapists, as well as the joy of helping the disabled community, triggered my interest in exploring the medical field for a future choice.
NYLF would give me the privilege to join other high school students from around the country for this extraordinary opportunity to learn from and interact with subject matter experts while gaining invaluable hands-on experience. But to be able to attend this program I need to pay the tuition of $3395, and this is where I need your help.
Your support to help me raise the necessary tuition amount would be greatly appreciated and would ensure that I can fully benefit from what this summer program has to offer. Any funds raised in excess of the NYLF tuition will be donated by me to the Gudelsky Swim Program.
