Summer of Horrendous Surgeries

Hi! My name is Tierra. I am a 37 year old, double amputee in renal failure who desperately needs a kidney. I am a single mom of a 12 year old leukemia survivor. This summer, I was due to get my bachelors degree after I took a 6 week class starting 6/26-8/7. On 6/28, I was scheduled to have peritoneal dialysis revision surgery (abdominal) on 6/30. The surgery was supposed to be routine with a recovery of 3 days. The same night of surgery at Our Lady of Lourdes, I had to go to the ER at Shore Medical because the hospital sent me home without ensuring that I used the restroom. It ended up that I had over a liter of urine in my bladder and had to get a foley catheter for 5 days and needed to see a urologist. On 7/7, my midline incision opened up and my dialysis site began to leak blood and fluid. On 7/12, I was rushed back to the hospital still leaking blood and fluid and had 2 surgeries on 7/14 on my peritoneal dialysis site (again) and also a permacath port was put into my chest. I went without dialysis for over 10 days. I was cleared to return to work/school on 7/31. I had to take a medical withdraw from my final class to graduate. On 8/9, I was put back in the hospital and had another surgery where they took out the peritoneal dialysis catheter. I had 3 surgeries on the same spots in my abdomen including incision lines. The doctor anticipates that I will be cleared to return to everything in approximately 6 to 8 weeks.

The reason for my gofundme is that I have to pay out of pocket for class and books. I have no financial aid. I also have not worked since 6/29. I need school clothes for my son. I have completely exhausted my savings. I am not one to ever ask for help or a handout but I am in a situation beyond my control. I want to be able to finish school to show my son that no matter the obstacles and difficulties in life, you can always overcome and recover.
