Summer of Dance: Dreams and Adventures

Hi! My name is Samantha! I've been dancing since I was 3yrs old and this year, at 17, I am excited to make a dream come true; to travel for dance!

In what came as a flurry of surprise and opportunity just a couple of months ago, I have the chance to participate in two different dance intensives this summer. One in Colorado that is 16 days of dance (and 12 of those are 12hrs each day!);

And a 1-week intensive in New York which required tryouts... and I got in!

Why does this matter to me? Well, I have a passion for dance and choreography. I love to move to and express my own, and others', interpretations of songs. To create visual expressions of the invisible music.

The strength, grace, and technique required can come with sweat, blood, blisters, and tears. But when they are implemented on stage and fulfill the vision they were called upon to exhibit, they are a sweet, sweet reward.

The whole summer adventure combined is $6,200.

With my savings and working extra, I will have $2,500 of my own for these trips. And my parents have sponsored me with my full NY intensive fees ($1,670). But with the time and amount remaining, I need help.

The remaining balance is to help me cover plane tickets, food, and other expenses.

We got a big discount in NY and I have inquired about further discounts, scholarships, and financial aid for Colorado. As I hear back about those things, I will deduct the amount needed. Fingers crossed!
