Summer Linn medical fund!

On April 1st 2021 our daughter Summer Linn had a freak accident on a swing that resulted in a broken arm and a head injury. We made the awful mistake of taking her to the nearest hospital which was CHI Brazosport. Summer was given narcotics before being xrayed. Her break was at 6 degrees. They focused so much on the broken arm that they refused to check her head even after being informed that she is an epileptic. They splinted us and sent us home. The following morning Summer was in a massive amount of pain and crying. We took her to Texas Children’s with her X-rays from the day before in our hands. Well, when Texas Children’s x-rayed her, we found out her break had gone from 6 degrees to 14 degrees. Since she was under the influence of pain meds at the time her original splint was put on, we had no idea it was too tight and causing her pain and possible damage. Again, the primary focus was on the arm. They re-set her arm and casted her. Aside from the break, we thought all was well.  A week and four days later, Summer had a massive seizure and we rushed her back to Texas Children’s where she was diagnosed with post concussive syndrome and a possible TBI (traumatic brain injury). During this time her normal neurologist went to private practice so we had to hunt for a new neurologist in our network.  We found someone in  Katy with Think Neurology. In less than one week, we have also seen another specialist and have had to schedule appointments with even more. Unfortunately, her insurance covers one but not all of the medical costs so far. Due to the nature of her symptoms, we know more specialists are in our future. Not only have the seizures worsened but her mood has drastically changed and she is having troubling memory issues. Some of y’all have met our kiddo. She’s normally a bright bubbly child. This change in her is tearing us apart. It’s been heart breaking watching her decline and to witness her own frustrations with not being able to remember simple things.  We want our baby back.  We have no idea how long it will take to fight with insurance to get the coverage we need and she deserves.  We are humbling ourselves and asking for help.
