Hannah's D.C. Internship Experience

Hi family and friends! 

I’m so excited to share that I will be working in the House Office Building in Washington D.C. this summer (starting soon—July 18th!) as one of Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky’s interns. I’ll be graduating from DePaul University next March, so this opportunity will be a great way for me to explore whether a career in policy is something I want to pursue. 

Though I’m so looking forward to this experience, I am also anticipating the financial strains of being an unpaid government intern. This is why I am asking for financial support. In addition to needing a new, professional wardrobe and help affording expensive D.C. living and rent, I will have to continue paying a share of my current Chicago apartment. 

The $5,000 I am requesting will help me afford

$200—travel expenses 
$1320—Chicago rent and utilities
$2020—D.C. rent and utilities
$1260—food to eat
$200—(required) professional wardrobe
