OakSPIRE is an informal 3-week summer program based out of our home in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland. It gives kids the opportunity to have a fun, free, active, and creative summer! Kids do all sorts of things... garden, play soccer, cook, play board games, paint, construct, hike, explore creeks, climb trees, and much more. They are in charge of their days.

We practice COMMUNITY-SUPPORTED EDUCATION. The community supports the growth and development of these young people by offering their time, skills, expertise, passions, and financial contributions.

We need some capital to buy paints, origami paper, wood, jump ropes, food, bus passes, and whatever other expenses arise. Ideally, we'll also raise enough money to pay 1-2 young BIPOC facilitators from the community. We will keep the budget on a spreadsheet and will post it as an update to be transparent about the uses of the funds.
If you would also like to support in other ways, reach out and contact me.
Thank you!
