Summer Camp for the Blind & Visually Impaired
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Landon Ward. I’m fundraising for summer camp at SUNY Brockport, NY. Camp Abilities Brockport is a summer camp for the blind, visually impaired, and deafblind. The camp is set up to provide a one-on-one instructional situation for each person, which is often the contrary to other camps designed for people with visual impairments. Typically only 3-5 children who are not from NY are able to attend. Luckily this year I was selected as one of those children. I’m 11 years old and live in Cincinnati, OH. I was born with optic nerve hypoplasia (ONH). ONH simple means I’m blind and I can’t see. I use a cain as my eyes. Camp abilities will offer me the chance to be apart of a sports camp for children and teens who are blind, visually impaired, and deafblind. Camp abilities is important to me because it gives me the opportunity to play sports just like my friends. Also I get to meet and become friends with other campers that live with a visual impairment just like me.
