Summers Bohenstiel Post Open Heart Surgery Fund
Donation protected
Life sure has a way of throwing you a curve ball when you least expect it.
On March 20th, 2024, Summers began having severe chest pains and shortness of breath. He was admitted into the hospital through the emergency room that night and scheduled for a heart catheterization the next morning. They knew he was having some sort of cardiac event, but they were not sure how serious. Thursday morning it was discovered that he had multiple blockages that would require open heart surgery with 5 bypasses. The blockage that was causing all the pain was a 99% blockage on the artery nicknamed "the widowmaker". We had no time to think, the surgery was scheduled for 7am on Friday, March 22nd.
Thankfully, his surgery went really well and his hospital stay was uneventful and he was able to come home on March 26th.
After such a major surgery where your breast plate has been cut to open your chest, and then wired back, Summers will not be able to work for at least 8 weeks after the surgery.
Time will tell after that what his capacity will be for his usual line of work, which is typically very strenuous manual labor like remodeling and construction.
We understand how difficult times are right now for so many and we feel so lucky that Summers has had a second chance at life when this could have ended so tragically.
Any funds raised will go to medical bills incurred and living expenses for the next few months while he is unable to work.
We are grateful for any donation, but if you are not able to give at this time, a share is also much appreciated.
Much love to all and we are so hopeful for a very healthy future.... Summers and Jill
