Ava's Summer Abroad in Barcelona

Hi, my name is Ava Konecki and I am a 17-year-old Junior at Oak Park River Forest High School raising funds to attend CIEE's (Counsel of International Educational Exchange) language program in Barcelona, Spain this summer. Lasting four weeks, June 11 to July 8, the trip consists of daily rigorous Spanish classes and homework alongside an exciting exploration of the rich culture that Barcelona has to offer, such as museums, architecture, markets, gardens, and neighborhoods. I am passionate about speaking Spanish and wish to immerse myself in an environment where I can build my skills while experiencing the beautiful city. In the future, I wish to become fluent so that I can use Spanish in my everyday life.

Your donation will go towards the cost of the trip which includes four weeks of homestay, food, classes, and plenty of excursions throughout the city and beyond. The total cost is $6650 which does not include airfare. I am a dedicated honors student with straight A's and because of this, I am honored to receive an Academic Merit Scholarship for $665.

I spend my time in clubs like Best Buddies, supporting my church through altar serving and assisting in Catechism lessons for kids, and playing instruments like piano and guitar.
