My beautiful dog Suki has severe hip dysplasia and when she was just 10 months old, she had her first total hip replacement back in 2021.

The surgery was a little more complicated than expected as her femur fractured slightly during the procedure, but she recovered incredibly well and has enjoyed the past few years living life to the fullest — running on the beach, going on long walks, and doing plenty of zoomies.

Unfortunately, Suki has now reached a point where her other hip is causing her pain and stopping her from enjoying the things she loves most.

After speaking with my vet, I’ve made the decision to go ahead with a second total hip replacement to give her the best chance at a happy, pain-free life again.

I was incredibly grateful for the support I received when I created a GoFundMe during her first surgery in 2021.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have insurance at the time, and because of her pre-existing condition, insurance would not cover this surgery either.

With a baby on the way this year, I want to give Suki the best chance to recover and be back to her happy, energetic self so she can welcome her new sibling as my “double bionic” beach-running pup!

I will of course keep you all updated throughout her appointments, surgery and recovery.

06/08/25 - Suki had her consultation which cost £326

10/03/26 Suki had her CT scan which cost £1,250

22/03/26 Suki will be arriving at hospital for her surgery the next day!
