Jessica and I sat down to catch up and she started telling me about Suki, by the end of our convo we were both in tears... I decided to set this up for her because one of the all time great pups needs our help!
If you’ve ever met Suki, you know her friends adore her. If you’ve ever met Jessica, you know Suki is her world.
About 8 months ago Suki developed a little limp in her hind legs. What everyone thought was minor, has developed into a serious problem. Suki can no longer run, and has a hard time playing, sitting, standing up and even walking. She’s just over 3 years old! :(
The process of getting a diagnosis has been long and costly. She has had multiple x-rays, and been to a variety of vets. Jessica was relieved to finally find an orthopedic surgeon whom she can trust.
Onto the diagnosis...
Suki is afflicted by a pre-genetic disposition called Cranial Cruciate Ligament Disease. The cranial cruciate ligament is one of the most important stabilizers inside the canine knee. X-rays show that Suki has ruptured the ligaments in both of her hind knees, which is leading to complications in her hips as well.
Sweet baby Suki is scheduled to have double knee surgery at the end of November. The surgeon is very confident she will make a full recovery, but it won’t be cheap.
Expenses will likely surpass $9000.00 (woof). After much deliberation, I’ve decided to set up this GoFundMe for her to try and soften the blow.
Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Suki doesn’t understand all of this, and it’s pretty heartbreaking. We can’t wait til she’s back to 100 !!
