Hi, my name is Megan Mabe and I am fundraising to help with Sujata's medical costs while she undergoes a third surgery to remove a Meningioma three brain tumor. I have known Sujata since she was five. She was best friends with my daughter, Tempe. Sujata is a brilliant young woman who recently started working as a Physician's Assistant in Berkeley, CA. Here is Sujata's story and we ask that you please share this post.

In April, 2023, Sue started having severe headaches and nausea. During the following several months her nausea became violent and she lost 30 pounds. She went to her family doctor several times and was diagnosed with dehydration. Sue finally researched her symptoms and diagnosed her symptoms as being caused by a brain tumor. When she told her family doctor about it, the doctor laughed at her. Soon after, she flew home to Iowa, to her parents’ home. The doctor here was able to quickly diagnose the brain tumor and medevacked her to University of Iowa hospital.

A few days later she had a 15-hour surgery that removed approx. 85% of the tumor. After a short period, she and her parents went to California, due to insurance requirements. She had a surgery on September 27th to go in from a different angle and attempt to remove the remaining tumor. Now we have found out that she needs another surgery to get some remaining parts of the tumor out. This will be on November 14th. She will receive radiation treatments after that. There have been several complications due to the delay of her initial surgery. She has suffered some hearing loss, has some facial paralysis, swelling problems, and she is still unable to close one of her eyes at this point. We don't know whether these complications will be permanent or not.

Her parents have had to move temporarily to California and rent an apartment in order to care for her. Sue had been living with several other roommates and there would not have been room for her parents to stay there as well. I am hoping this GoFundMe account will be able to provide some relief for Sujata’s family.
