Suite Sanctuary

Donation protected
Over 18 million veterans are currently living in the United States. Long Island alone has over 200,000. 20% of all veterans live with mental illness.  Suite Pieces, Huntington's The Home Depot and 4Thought Financial Group present SUITE SANCTUARY.

We want to help a long-island raised veteran, Brian. He is a great guy who proudly went into the Army. He was in Iraq when an IED detonated and he almost lost his life. On his right side he had injuries to the tibia and fibula and his ankle was broken in three places. They put in a titanium rod to support the breaks and informed him that if it didn't hold they would have to cut off his leg. On the right side his PCL was torn completely off of the bone, which they repaired by giving him a cadaver for his knee. He also had TBI Traumatic Brain Injury, which caused some hearing loss and pressure in his head like someone is squeezing it.

Brian put his life on the line to defend our country and came very close to losing it. He and his family have suffered a great deal as a result. Brian suffers from PTSD and has become severely depressed, to the point that he has said he does not want to live anymore. However he does have a lot to live for, his wife and four young children being the most important reasons. Brian is not able to work and when his wife lost her job they fell behind on bills and have had a lot of trouble catching up. Although he currently lives in Alaska (he was stationed there when he met his wife) Huntington is the town that he grew up in. We are asking for individuals, businesses and the community as a whole to come together and show him that his hometown appreciates his sacrifices by helping to alleviate some of their financial burden. This gesture would mean a tremendous amount to them financially as well as emotionally.  This is a guy that was so proud to fight for us, we would like to return the favor and show him that we will fight for him.

This is where we need your help. All donations will go directly to Brian. In his honor we will makeover the kitchen of the Freeport Beacon House, which is home to a group of formerly homeless veterans. Suite Pieces will be providing all materials to refinish cabinets as well as offering a discount to all those who donate for the month of July. The Home Depot will be donating appliances, countertops and other materials needed for the kitchen. 4Thought Financial Group will be assisting in collecting donations.

We can never repay the sacrifices made by these incredibly selfless individuals, but we can do this. By doing so, we will provide both mental & physical sanctuary.

Please help us show our veterans that Long Island stands with them.

About Lindsay Larson

When I heard about Brians situation it weighed heavy on my mind. I started thinking about how I could help. Everyone has something they do well and it is almost always possible to use it for a cause you believe in. I can paint, and organize people so that is what I am going to do, and I am hoping it will bring some attention to the issue of PTSD for Brian and so many other veterans who are suffering.
