Suilven for Andy
Donation protected
At the end of May 2025 a group of us will climb the iconic mountain Suilven located in the northwest Highlands of Scotland in memory of my husband, Andy Bluefield. Andy passed away in January this year, after 7 years of Prostate Cancer. His passion was the mountains. The wilder and more remote the better.
Of the many mountains he climbed while living in NW Scotland, Suilven was one of his favourites. I can’t even guess how many times he climbed it; either as a mountain guide, with the Assynt mountain rescue team, or during a day out on the hills. It was always memorable and gave him great pleasure.
Suilven doesn’t come easy. It is a 20km round trip walk over trails and bog, with a steep ascent to the reach the col. Then it’s a lovely ridge walk to the main summit. It will take us around 8-9 hours. Whereas in the past I wouldn’t have thought twice about the distance, many of us will find it a good challenge now.
All funds raised will go to the charity Cancer Support France - Languedoc. They are an organisation started in 2009 who assist English speakers living in France. CSF is run by volunteers. They provided us with invaluable support during a very difficult time and continue to support me.
I hope you can make a little donation and help raise money for a valuable charity.
