Platte River Inn

The Platte River Inn is a family run business in the very small town of Honor, Michigan.   Businesses are few in this town and the owners, Susan and John Leone,  purchased and opened the Platte River Inn restaurant three years ago after losing their infamous ice cream store to a massive fire.  They invested everything they have and more into this restaurant and are generous wonderful people that invite all in, as part of their family.  They have struggled to make ends meet throughout the last few years and continue to struggle today but have remained determined to be successful.  Tragedy struck again last night, when the family awoke to heavy smoke.  All safely exited but the fire destroyed  and charred much of their basement storage area, while the dining and kitchen area suffered heavy smoke damage.  Their living quarters above the restaurant also suffered heavy smoke damage.   While they have insurance, it will not cover their loss of business during what is normally a busier time of year that helps to get them through the leaner months ahead.   Holiday dinner parties will be cancelled and families will not be able to come in to enjoy a good hot meal in a festive holiday atmosphere.   Instead, the Platte River Inn will be closed.  Insurance does not cover their loss of Christmas gifts, their incidentals or stop their bills from coming when they aren't able to be open for business.   For all of you that know Susan and John, you know if you were hungry and broken, they'd cook you a meal and never ask you for a dime.   This time they are in need of help and any donation, small or large, will help them to  recover from this tragedy.   Susan and John are extended family to many of us and for some, they are their only family.   They are the faces that greet you during the cold winter months with warm smiles and welcome the seasonal residents and vactioning families as if they've known us all our lives.  They are generous, caring, hard-working people that are in need of help during this holiday season.  Surely, they will be forever grateful to those who are able to help them during this difficult time.   I sincerely ask you to consider donating to a family who needs and very much deserves help.
