Voluntary Suffering for Suicide Prevention

Hey Ya'll, thanks for visiting my page. I am on a mission to use my foray into ultra-endurance racing to make a difference in the lives of others. On top of inspiring others to accomplish the seemingly impossible, I aspire to raise funds for suicide prevention and access to mental health services via the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), an iniative you'll see is close to my heart if you keep reading. My goal is to voluntarily and physically suffer as much as humanly possible to help alleviate the suffering of others.

To date, I have raced in quite a few endurance races including three full-distance Ironman races and four 70.3 Ironman races, but now it's time to turn it up a few notches. My first (of many) experiences in Ultra-endurance racing will be "The Trident" held in Jupiter on July 29th, 2023. The Trident is a 40-mile soft-sand race that involves completing a 3.3-mile loop at the top of every hour, with those who fail to finish the loop in under 60 minutes being eliminated from contention. On odd hours (1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm and so on) the last finisher across the line, regardless of time, will also be eliminated. Did I mention the race begins at 12 pm Noon and doesn't end until 12 pm-midnight? The Trident will be tough, grueling, and merciless, and I can't wait to suffer. This however is simply the first of many ultra-endurance races I'll be competing in to raise money and awareness for suicide prevention, join me on my journey!

Those who know me well understand that I've struggled with and fought depression and suicidal thoughts all my life. As I continue to grow and learn more about my mental battles I want to use my participation in wild and crazy races to inspire others to keep fighting while simultaneously raising funds to increase awareness of and access to suicide prevention and mental health services, with the help of NAMI.
