Joseph Gouck, my brother and an amazing stay at home father for his three young, beautiful daughters, was in a terrible car accident early morning on Sunday, June 23rd. He was struck on his front driver’s side. The impact of the crash was so strong, he was thrown from the driver’s seat into the foot area of the passenger’s side of his car. While his side air bags deployed, the steering wheel air bags did not. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, which has caused swelling and bleeding from his brain, a fractured wrist and various other severe injuries. Currently, he is in the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care unit. He has been unresponsive, incubated and on a ventilator. They are trying to keep him as comfortable as possible. While he is being cared for by a wonderful and attentive staff and a compassionate support system, they can only do so much and his progress has been touch and go.
My family and I have been by his side day and night. He needs someone with him 24/7. His wife, Amanda, and our mother, Carol, have rarely left his bedside. As a result of this accident and his unstable condition, Amanda has taken an indefinite leave of absence from work to be there for her husband in his greatest time of need. Joe was the primary caregiver for his three young daughters, an amazing and wonderful stay at home father. Amanda and her children could use any support you could possibly offer during this, their time of need. They need help with the impending hospital bills, daycare, rent, utility bills, even groceries.
At the very least, please keep Joe and all the Gouck family in your prayers at this time. Joe is going to need all the love, support, and prayers he can possibly get as he fights this battle. We are so thankful and appreciative of any and all support you can offer Joe and his family during this tragic time in their lives.
