As many friends and family already know,  I have been diagnosed with systemic sclerosis (scleroderma). This rare autoimmune disease is scaring my lung tissue causing interstitial lung disease.  The only real cure is a lung transplant. Clinical research trials are underway at many well known hospitals for stem cell transplantation. I will be traveling with my friend Kelly soon to meet with Dr. Burt at Northwestern University in Chicago.  He has a week of testing scheduled to see if I'm a good candidate for his study.
