Sue's solo Kilimanjaro trek for Alzheimer's

PLEASE NOTE: I am SELF FUNDING so all donations will go straight to the
Alzheimer's Society - NOT A PENNY goes towards my trip.

One million people in the UK will have dementia by 2025 and this will increase to two million by 2050. A person with dementia can forget things. They can think, feel, speak and act differently. They may be confused. These changes can be small. They will get worse. After some time, the person will not be able to do everyday things.

That is exactly what happened to my dear Mum. She had always been a fiercely independent lady, bringing up 4 kids as a single parent. She had such a sharp mind and wit, yet when dementia struck she struggled to live independently and landed up in a care home. Then Covid struck. She was trapped in her room for the last 11 months of her life with no visitors and tragically died alone with no one to hold her hand. Dementia took our Mum away from us on January 19th,  2021 , exactly a year ago as I write this.

I miss my Mum every day and I've struggled to adapt to her not being around. I was lost for some time but I decided I had to do something that would help others struggling with this awful disease and that would also restore my sense of purpose. I got a personal trainer, started to run twice a week and shed 3 stone. So now I'm ready ...I'm traveling on my own to Tanzania  and trekking up Kilimanjaro,  starting  June 22nd this year !

So please please will you support my cause and make a donation ?

We really do have a "mountain to climb" to beat this horrid disease that takes our loved ones from us.

THANKYOU xx
