Final Support for Sue Miller & Family
“In all of this, all ll I want is for my family to be supported. I don’t want to leave them struggling.”
Sue Miller
After a 5 year battle against cancer, sickness and even brain surgery, Sue Miller of Millersville PA is coming to the end of her journey and facing an early transition from this life to the next. A dedicated wife, mother and friend, she and her family are in need of support as they all move into the next phases of all that is to come for them.

Sue’s Story
In 2013 Suzanna and Darrell Miller received news that would forever change the direction of their lives, as well as that of their families. A woman’s worst fear, Sue was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer, something that would quickly move to her lymph nodes and eventually require a mastectomy. Over the next 5 years, she would experience debilitating chemo treatments, remission, paused chemotherapy treatments after being diagnosed with a brain tumor and finally, the return of the cancer and its rapid spread to the rest of her body. Now at the end of her life, when told that nothing else would cure her, Sue and Darrell are utilizing hospice and palliative care services and preparing for the end of her life. While Sue’s medical story is long and detailed, the resulting consequence of this sickness on the life of her family is what devastates her the most and is the most important.
Sue and Darrell are residents of Millersville in Lancaster County and are the parents of 2 boys, Justin and Aden. 23 and 14 years old, both boys are on the autism spectrum with Aden’s challenges being more pronounced. Aden is non verbal and requires consistent behavioral support in order to face his daily challenges while Justin is higher functioning and requires emotional support. Both Sue and Darrell are known for having dedicated their lives to the support of their boys and one of Sue’s last wishes is to see her family well supported, cared for and nurtured.
While Sue is known for being fiercely devoted to the care of her family, Darrell as well is a father after God’s own heart. Deeply dedicated to his family, he has suffered a great deal while parenting his children and maintaining a healthy household during Sue’s illness. While Sue was hospitalized in other cities and states, he has stayed home with the boys, unable to be by his wife’s side, giving direction to doctors and family members via telephone and email. When he could not be present, he has spent nights calling and crying and praying for Sue and committing her into the hands of others when he himself wished he could be there with her. The challenges of being separated (by necessity) from the woman he loves have been tremendous.
Luckily, Sue hasn’t been alone in her ordeal and neither has Darrell. During her entire sickness, Sue’s sisters Becky and El have been by her side, Becky even traveling with her to out of state cancer centers and hospitals during her brain surgeries, hospitalizations and chemo treatments. Even now, there is a vibrant church community and circle of friends, family and loved ones who are holding Sue up as she transitions out of this life.
“I could not have had a better wife. Our boys could not have had a better mom. Always spoiling them, always caring for them, there has never been a time when she was not completely dedicated to nurturing and loving them. Now, all I want to do is give her what she wants and what she wants is peace and support for her boys.”

The Need/How You can Help
While there is a ton of emotional and spiritual support surrounding Sue, Darrell, Justin and Aden, both Sue and Darrell have expressed that there is a fear for the financial and practical future of their family. Sue never returned to work after her cancer initially metastasized into stage 4, leaving Darrell as the sole breadwinner and caregiver for their home. Benefits and savings have been slowly and consistently depleted, and somewhere along the way, it was realized that there was no life insurance available for her final expenses. Justin has expressed fear over the family not staying together, Darrell has experienced exhaustion from having to work and maintain the home on one income and Sue expresses that her only wish is to see her family taken care of. Any donation to this ongoing campaign to help their family will be used towards the following needs:
Funeral expenses for Sue and her final wishes
Life Insurance needs towards debt and medical costs
Expenses for maintaining Aden’s ongoing behavioral health needs
Household maintenance and upkeep
Ongoing support for both boys needs as Darrell attempts to work and save as a single man and sole provider.
Thank you so much for supporting the ongoing needs of this family. Continue to send prayers and well wishes as Darrell and the boys continue life without Sue’s presence.
