HI,I think all my FB friends know that I have been caring for and rehabbing sick, injured and orphaned hedgehogs for many years now .It's a passion of mine, I enjoy doing it and these innocent endangered creatures need people to " look out" for them otherwise we will all wake up one day to find that our native wild hedgehogs are " no more".Helping hedgehogs can cos,t a considerable amount of money.i buy many things needed in hedgehog care which includes housing(everything from plastic really useful boxes to a large double hutch set up in the shed), bedding (eg blankets) heatpads, treatments for fleas, flystrike and tics, spot on wormer meds , wound care items,and loads of gloves, aprons and cleaning products.Then there's the food , always high quality , from.puppy milk for hoglets to dog meat for the healthier adults prior to release.By far the biggest expense is vet bills/meds with most hogs in care needing medication at some point.This includes, wormers, antibiotics and painkillers. I hold regular fundraising /awareness stalls mostly throughout the summer, but there are times these don't happen (cos of illess) like today , or transport falling thru and every penny lost is a penny less for the hoggys money box .So as its my birthday week we can call this " Sue's Birthday Fundraiser? And maybe see if we can raise a little something to make up for the event I had to pull out of today due to illness.Just a little recap of what I do, in the past few weeks I have reunited 4 orphaned baby hedgehog siblings, cared for and then successfully released those siblings back into the wild, watching them leave ,and had an injured adult hedgehog die in my arms.Many thanks for reading.Love, Sue.xx
