Suellen Hill Memorial Fund

A message from Aaron.
Early on the morning of Wednesday November 9, Suellen suffered an Inferior Anterior Cerebral Aneurysm. There was no warning and no indicators. She was rushed to the ER at St. Francis here in Midlothian, VA and it was discovered she had suffered catastrophic brain damage due to the aneurysm. She was ultimately transferred to St. Mary's in Henrico where she was declared brain dead. We immediately began the process for organ donation. At 8pm on Saturday, November 12, we escorted Suellen to an operating room at St. Mary's where our deep sorrow and loss was offset by the joy being created by the life-changing organ donations for at least four other people and their friends and families.
We are crushed and our hearts are broken, but in our despair and anger and sadness, God's goodness and providence continues to overwhelm us. Conor and Savannah have proven time and time again their foundations are rock solid. Even amidst their own sorrow, they have shown empathy and compassion for others while seeking the comfort of worship, church, and prayer.
Suellen was the cornerstone of our family and the glue that kept us together. She was hilarious and witty and beautiful and always thinking of others. And she was my best friend. Many people have approached me with stories about Suellen's persistent compassion for them or of her well-timed thoughtfulness in the form of an encouraging note or perfectly chosen gift. She truly loved loving people and was so darn good at it.
Suellen is loved by so many and her passing is our loss and Heaven's gain. We are comforted that she knew Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and the fruit of her earthly faithfulness will continue to be felt for generations.
A memorial service/party is scheduled for Saturday, December 3 in Midlothian, VA at the The Chapel (www.chapelrva.com). Once confirmed this week, I'll send out a follow up message.
People are asking how the can help - here's what you can do. Please take some time and write down how you knew Suellen, what silly names you knew her as, a few funny memories you have with her (and there are a ton!) or what impact she may have had on your life/spiritual life, etc. I'm going to create a binder of memories for the kids that demonstrate the immense influence she had on folks beyond the title of "Mom."
If these can be emailed to [email redacted] or mailed to 1451 Tomahawk Creek Rd., Midlothian, VA 23114 I would be so grateful. I'll even take a photo or two if you'd like to share. My cell is [phone redacted]. Feel free to call if you have questions or just want to chat - it's not a bother and I never mind talking about Suellen Hill.
Psalm 100:1-3. Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
