“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”

I want to introduce you to someone who has dedicated her life and her gifts in the service of others. Some even playfully call her Saint Sue-Anne, a nod and a wink to her early days as a nun.

How can I summarise the enormity of her life into a few short sentences? She’s a single mother of four, a grandmother, a sister, a foster parent, a cherished friend, a powerful healer, a philanthropist, and one of the strongest people I know.

She’s the type of person who gives without thinking about what she’ll get in return. The type of person who deeply cares about people. The type of person whose compassion knows no bounds.

In the last decade she has devoted her time and resources to helping people overcome trauma, PTSD, and chronic pain through the vehicle of clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques. Most recently she joined Dr. Peta Stapleton and Lori Leyden’s team at Mind Heart Connect, a foundation committed to creating resilient communities by giving them the resources and skills to cope with trauma. All of this while simultaneously and single handedly raising her two grandchildren.

When I moved to Australia, and knew no one, she provided a cherished friendship and a safe harbour – someone I could always count on. She was also one of the single biggest influences in my personal healing journey, both physically and mentally. When I speak to others, they reflect the same sentiment. Sue is a woman who has impacted and changed so many lives.

I must also say, she’s not the type of person who easily asks for help. Something many of us can relate to. So right now, in her time of need, I have decided to do the asking.

Sue Anne was recently diagnosed with “terminal” cancer. I put the word “terminal” in quotes, because Sue Anne is a woman of faith, a woman who believes in the power of miracles, and a woman who knows with every fibre of her being that she has more work to do.

We are raising money to support her mind, body and spirit during this trying time. By removing the financial burden and worry from her shoulders, she can shift 100% of her focus to healing. All donations will go towards nourishing food and living expenses.
