Sue Woelber Bohler’s Double Lung Transplant

Hello friends,

Our loving, supportive mom, Sue Woelber, has battled end-of-life lung disease for the past five years. Mom was registered and wait-listed at the University of Minnesota for a double lung transplant in August 2018.

Our Mom woke up to her miracle call on 07/30/22 at 6:45 am. "Sue, we have a match." Our mom was so ready she had her bags packed and plans in place. She also knew it had to be done now because this would be her only chance to live longer.

It has been quite the miracle watching her recover and battle through all this. She is definitely a warrior and is our HERO. I hope she can be yours as well and can be an inspiration to others in need of a donor. Please share her story and follow us along this journey of our moms 2nd chance of life!

All funds will be allocated for our mom’s medical expenses during her stay at the hospital and post transplant treatments & medicines. 

Updates:

07/31/22 Pre-operation/operation day, she had more words and concerns for the donor's family than questions about the surgery when the surgeon and transplant team showed up. Her transplant operation procedure went quick, smooth & successful. Dr was happy with how kings were being accepted.

08/2/22 Her ventilator tube was removed, and she is breathing for the first time with her donated lungs. Recovery is in sight.

08/05/22-They are attempting to take her off oxygen completely and have her take her first steps with her new lungs. If she keeps proving that she is improving, there is talk she can be out of ICU in 48hrs.

08/06/22-Mom is starting physical therapy, eating, talking and walking again and has intensive rehab ahead of her.

08/12/22- the fight continues… mom is in intermediate care at the University of Minnesota. Healing and Resting, she is fighting through all the pain and gaining more strength daily.
