On August 3, 2008, my wife, Sue became very ill. Eight days later I took her to the hospital, as her health had steadily declined.  After two additional hospital stays that August, nobody could tell us what was wrong.  During the third admission it was discovered that Sue had breast cancer.  Sue had a successful mastectomy and completed chemotherapy - she has been cancer free since 2009! However, Sue continues to have very severe complications that are believed to be from the breast cancer.

Sue quickly went from being an energetic, vibrant wife, mother and teacher (in the Worthington School District) to being wheelchair bound and needing 24/7 care.  After many additional visits to the doctor and tests, we still did not have a diagnosis. Finally her lab results were sent to the Mayo Clinic and Sue was diagnosed with an extremely rare disease called Paraneoplastic Syndrome.

Paraneoplastic Syndrome is believed to be associated with breast, lung and ovarian cancer and is so rare that most physicians will never see a case throughout their career. Presently there is no cure. All that can be done is to try to slow down the progression of this disease. Sue exercises daily and practices speech and writing exercises. Sue continues to have a positive attitude and hope for a cure.

I have continued to stay in contact with doctors and do additional research on my own. My brother, a doctor based in Lubbock, Texas introduced me to a group of doctors in Houston, Texas, called CellTex.

These doctors believe that they can help Sue. The procedure would include growing stem cells over a six week period and then reintroducing them back into the Sue's body. This is still and experimental procedure and therefore the reintroduction portion needs to be completed outside of the United States. CellTex is currently working with a hospital in Mexico where Sue would complete the procedure. There would be a minimum of a 6 or 7 day stay required.

This is the first time in ten years that we have had any hope for Sue. Any relief to her suffering would be a miracle.

I am asking for help in defraying the expense for this procedure. Sue and I are both retired on disability and have many expenses involved with her continuous medication and care-giving. We would greatly appreciate any and all assistance with this desperate matter.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you.
God Bless You,
