Hello, I am Sara, Sue's niece.

On March 6th, Sue was found in her home at the bottom of her stairs. Due to the fall, she suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding in the space that surrounds the brain). While she was in the hospital, she suffered an embolic stroke.

Currently, Sue is not talking or following simple commands. The doctors are concerned with her food and liquid intake. She will eat when it is something she likes and when she's not sleeping. So far tuna, cheeseburgers and chocolate Magic Cups are a hit!

The next steps depend on when Sue starts to eat consistently. Due to the extensive traumatic brain injury and stroke, Sue will need physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Once she has been consistently eating and her fluid intake is where the doctors want it, Sue will need to be moved to a TCU (Transitional Care Unit) and/or a nursing home. Once she has been moved, the doctors anticipate she will need months of therapy and most likely be dependent on someone helping her long-term.

Numerous people have asked how her fur babies are. I have Chancy and plan to keep her as part of our family. Lily is currently with neighbors of Sue and will be finding her permanent placement soon. Cray Cray is currently at the house and warming up to her new owner, Sue's neighbor, Roger. All of the pets are in great hands and are receiving extra love during this difficult time. I share pictures, videos and stories with Sue each day so she knows they are well taken care of.

The goal of this Go Fund Me is to help keep Sue's house and bills current while she finds her new normal. Funds will also be used to pay the medical bills.
