Support Sudi: Mochi's Care, Housing, and Healing
Donation protected
Sudi is a dear friend of mine and has been struggling with many invisible things lately, from health issues herself, her dog's health, a traumatic breakup, and now housing instability as her rent has suddenly increased, as it has for so many, and now that she is on her own after a traumatic break up she needs to find a new place to live and run her business from. She has been facing all of this alone or with very minimal support for quite a while and now with the housing situation it seems to be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back."
Sudi is a Bay area, POC artist that celebrates powerful femmes, fairy tales, and nature through illustration and a homemade brand of street-soft apparel. Her current only source of income is her small business which was run by her and her ex, but now that she is on her own she is unsure of how fast or slow she will be able to complete orders.
I am lucky enough that she felt safe confiding in me and after discussing it we decided to create this GoFundMe to help her with housing relocation, therapy expenses for herself after such a traumatic experience, and medical expenses for her dog, Mochi.
Here is a breakdown of the expenses and how the money will be allocated:
For Mochi, she needs two knee surgeries at about $3,000 each after pet insurance.
Mochi also has been diagnosed with kidney failure and medication and other treatments are estimated to cost around $3,000.
Sudi needs to find a new place to live due to unforeseen circumstances including a significant increase in the cost of rent at her current place. A friend has offered to let her sublease their apartment for $2,500 a month for up to three months while she looks for a more permanent place to live. The cost for her to move is estimated at $750.
With all of the instability and hardships she has faced, it would be greatly beneficial for Sudi to be able to see a therapist weekly if possible. Her insurance will begin to cover therapy in two months, but she needs it before then and it will cost nearly $200 a week for two months.
She may also need to temporarily have someone watch her cat, Mumu, while she gets back on her feet and would like to be able to pay that person so they can buy food and anything Mumu might need while in their care. Sudi would like to be able to give said person $500 if possible.
Now if you are doing the math while reading this you should see that the total is a large amount, $19,350. We have rounded it up to $20,000 in case anything else happens and for basic living expenses. While we know that it is very unlikely that we hit this goal, we would rather set it for what would be the most helpful and best to get Sudi back on her feet.
Any support, be it donating or sharing is greatly appreciated. Sudi’s life has been totally flipped upside down and everything seems extremely unstable without the love and support of other people. If you would like to support her by buying any of Sudi’s apparel or prints instead, her website is https://sudibear.com but please remember that as she readjusts orders might take a little bit longer than normal. Her Venmo is @soudabeh-rouhandeh and her ko-fi is https://ko-fi.com/sudibear if you would like to give via either of those as well. We will do our best to update the number here with the off-site or offline donations.
Sudi would like to thank you for taking the time to read through this and for your generosity and support.
