On July 28th while working 3 hours away from home, Steve Iorio was suddenly and brutally assaulted.

Steve suffered 11 facial fractures including a broken nose, broken cheekbones, broken teeth and blown out lower eye sockets. The doctors say with these injuries he should be in a coma.

Due to this he now has a really long road to recovery. After surgery, 6 + weeks on a liquid diet (he's already lost 30+ pounds within a two week span), dental reconstruction, and then up to a year beyond that to ensure complete healing, with each follow-up appointment being 3 hours away from home every week or two. Doctors have prepared us with the possible need for future surgeries.

He and his fiance Brandy, live in Florida far away from any family. On the Monday following the incident his son had his tenth birthday and Steve was unable to celebrate with him due to being in the hospital and subsequent emotional damage he might experience from seeing his father in this condition. It will be some time before he is able to see him again.

Steve cannot return to work and Brandy needs to stay home and be available for his recovery which includes special nutritional needs and medication as well as the transportation to get him to his appointments. He doesn't have the best medical coverage.

On the way home from the hospital the first time, the car broke down after 1 hour of the 3 hour trip and remains in disrepair. Brandy has been in her current position for less than a year and doesn't qualify for family leave act.
