Have you ever woken up to your normal life and by the end of the day your world was completely unrecognizable?
Will I survive this?
Will my family survive financially?
What will my family do with me out of commission?
All lingering thoughts for Casey, a 30 year old healthy family man of Sanford, MI as of February 1st, 2023.
- What happened? Casey came down with a sudden fever as well as swelling in his legs and feet. Admitted to Midland hospital the doctor suspected his heart. Shocking at only 30 years of age with no major pre-existing health problems. Testing confirmed Casey needs open heart surgery to replace a valve. First, the aggressive infection inside his leg (which caused the fever) must clear, this is what they are currently working on.
- What is the problem with Casey’s heart? When you are born you have a tricuspid in your valve. So three flaps that go open and shut open and shut. Casey was born with only two flaps so he is bicuspid .. his bicuspid has two holes and the blood is pooling back into his heart and not getting to his legs properly.

What is the Goal you can help us reach for Casey & his family during this difficult time?
Casey works full-time as a home builder, he is also the breadwinner in the family. The doctors project him to be out of work recovering for about 8 months. We hope to alleviate some of the financial burden and stress of maintaining the mortgage, medical bills not covered by insurance, food, utilities and insurance premiums. It is still unknown how much of the heart surgery will be covered by his insurance in these early stages. The goal is 10k, while this won't cover them fully for the next 8 months it will give them good padding during the upcoming battle.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
- Donate to Casey's fundraiser (big or small is greatly appreciated)
- Share this on your social media
- Share privately with your friends and family
- Prayers for Casey during his open heart surgery and for his family
Final thoughts
No one plans for Heart surgery at the young age of 30. It's my hope that friends, family and kind members of the community looking to pay it forward will be banned together over this effort to help Casey. Casey is my brother-in-law, he lives to take care of his wife and family. I've watched him work himself into the ground day after day and still find it in him to take care of everyone around him, friends, family, and neighbors. I've never heard him complain once. He's the type that would pull off on the side of the road if he saw a stranger broken down... the best way I can describe him is he's just one of the 'good ole boys'.
Thank you for your time and support!
