We’re asking for your support as the Gutierrez family mourns the sudden loss of Maria. She was Victor’s wife of 15 years and the mother of Samiya, Kahlil, Kaynen, Kamal, and her chosen son, King.

We are heartbroken. On July 1, Maria was at home with her husband and their four children when she had a severe allergic reaction that closed her airway within minutes. She was only 36 when she passed away. No child should have to witness their mother’s last moments. We are holding her children and husband close, knowing this loss will always be with them.

Maria was a rare kind of loving person. For the past ten years, she has dedicated herself to helping kids succeed, organizing five backpack drives so thousands of children could start school with what they needed. She was already planning her sixth drive. Maria was also the team mom for the Germantown Ducks football team, and parents trusted her to look after their sons during trips across the country. Everywhere she went, she made people feel welcome, safe, and valued, treating every child with kindness as if they were her own. She made a real difference, and her love will live on in everyone she touched.

We are raising money to help Maria’s four children, ages 2 to 15, and her husband cover urgent expenses, including childcare, bills, therapy, transportation, food, camp, and other daily needs. Maria worked full-time as a case manager and still managed all the family’s activities, doctor visits, and the task of getting her 5-year-old ready for kindergarten. She was the family’s anchor, and her loss has left a big emotional and financial gap.
