It is with broken hearts that we share the sudden passing of our beloved Derrick Henderson.

Derrick left us far too soon after suffering cardiac arrest, just one day after celebrating his daughter’s birthday. What makes this loss even more difficult to grasp is how ordinary and loving his final day was. That morning, Derrick did what he always did—he showed up as a father. He woke up to take care of his daughter’s slumber party, making waffles and bacon for the kids, making sure everyone was fed, safe, and smiling. Shortly after, he laid down to rest, complained of chest pain, and tragically passed away.

This is who Derrick was to his core: a provider, a nurturer, and a protector.

Derrick was the proud father of five beautiful children who were the center of his world. He dedicated his life not only to his family, but to his community—feeding neighbors, opening his doors to anyone in need, and making sure no one around him went without. If you knew Derrick, you knew his generosity had no limits.

At the time of his passing, Derrick was on disability, and his family relied on him for stability, love, and support. His sudden loss has left an emotional void that can never be filled—and also an unexpected financial burden.

We are asking for support to help cover the costs of Derrick’s burial and to provide ongoing support for his children as they begin to navigate life without their father, their protector, and their hero.
