Sudden emergency medical expenses. Please help!
"On May 10th 2020 I just knew I was loosing my life. I sat in my bedroom with numb crippling pain going through my stomach. The pain was so severe it broke me down to my knees so I could not even stand, pain that was almost as worse as the pain I experienced being physically abused as a child" - Edward Lewis
First I want to start this off by saying that medical insurance may not seem necessary when your young and healthy BUT IT IS!!! Out of no where my husbands life quickly seemed to be leaving. I heard him cry out like I never had before. I was so worried to take him to the hospital because of Covid-19 so I took him to a stand alone emergency facility but I was not able to go in. Hours later the nurse calls me saying they are bringing him out. I noticed quickly that he was heavily medicated. The nurse told me that the pain medicine would wear off about 4am and if the pain came back and was not able to be controlled with Tylenol to take him to an actual hospital immediately. Well needless to say just a few minutes after 4am I was woke up with screams coming from my husband. I rushed him to the ER and they immediately took him back and started an IV next thing I know they are telling me that the ambulance would be there soon to transport him to another hospital that would be able to help him better. Everything after that was almost a blur. Doctors told me that his bowels were perforated and it was toxic to his body. Long story short he ended up having emergency surgery to remove a part of his colon that was damaged as well as cleaning as much as the bile out as they could. He is now living with a colostomy bag. While being in the hospital for 21 days a lot of things happened. He is a fighter and we thank GOD he is home recovering now. We have only been home a week and have over $20,000 in medical bills that we have received and this is not even including the hospital stay :( We are reaching out for help. This is not easy to do believe me but are options are very limited as we have been denied for almost every program available. If you find it in your heart to assist in any amount we will be forever grateful. We believe that with God all things are possible and that his will be done. Thank you. - Tiffany Lewis
