Sudanese Peace Music Festival

Season of Migration

November 21st - 23rd, 2019

Al Safya Family Club - Bahri, Sudan

Sudanesepeacemusicfestival.com

This is a FREE community event organized to promote peace, arts, and culture in Sudan. Everyone is welcome to attend and experience the great talent that the Sudanese community has to offer. This three-day festival will provide a curated experience that blends musical performances, an art exhibition and a mural that will showcase some of the best talent that Sudan has to offer – with creative collaboration as a central and cross-cutting theme. The festival is a strictly a nonpolitical and nonpartisan event, our only aspiration is to support a vibrant Sudan for all.

In parallel to the art and music performances, we will be hosting a number of workshops which will be led by topic experts covering a wide variety of topics from visual arts to nutrition, and women's empowerment to intellectual property rights, as well as master-classes for creatives on music, branding, YouTube content, and more. There will also be a number of other equally impactful social initiatives, such as a blood collection drive to support the Sudanese National Blood Bank in building up reserves as well as an open invitation to donate used books to support an up-and-coming public library.

Furthermore, to ensure sustained long term impact we will be undertaking a renovation and beautification of the venue to give back to the community and are grateful to the more than one hundred volunteers that have already signed up to support. This will be coupled with the planting of several hundred small trees as a tribute to each of our fallen martyrs and rape victims, to support the environment and to raise awareness about desertification.

~ There will be children-friendly activities, including the chance to paint alongside the artists!  ~

This is the second-ever Sudanese Peace Music Festival and the first to be held inside Sudan. The inaugural event was held in Offenbach, Germany, in July 2019 and was a huge success. Important Clarifications and Transparency Statements:

The funds raised from your kind support will be drawn in the name of Hussam El Tayeb on behalf of the Sudanese Peace Music Festival (SPMF) initiative, and I will be personally in charge of managing expenses and purchasing supplies on behalf of the initiative. If we are successful in raising additional funds beyond our initial target these will go towards the realization of SPMF as a sustainable and recurring initiative. If we do not meet our abovementioned fundraising target we still intend to realize the event in Khartoum but will have to rely on our independent resources (which are very limited) and consider scaling down some of the components.
