Subsidise transport to give a cat a new life!

Hi, I’m Hayley and I run Fauna Mountain Cat Rescue in the province of Málaga, Southern Spain.

The cats I help are the ones that most other rescues don’t/can’t take on due to financial reasons or because of the difficulty of rehoming older or disabled cats. Other rescues are invaluable in providing amazing care and rehoming for the larger populations of unwanted young cats and newborn kittens found in bins. I chose to concentrate on cats that find a second opportunity in life almost non-existent.

In doing so, I can only rescue so many depending on space at the sanctuary. The best way for me to help more cats in dire need, is to adopt out the ones who’ve made a good rehabilitation. As you can imagine, with so many pretty unwanted kittens here, adoptions of the kind of cats I rescue are extremely low! A cat’s best opportunity to find a home is abroad in Northern Europe, such as England or The Netherlands.

That’s why I’ve set up this fundraiser to ask for contributions towards the cost of cats’ transport to these areas. Transport to England is £450 per cat. It sounds like crazy money, but that’s just the starting price of cross-Europe animal transport (when done properly/legally!). The transporters I have cultured a relationship with are the most professional, clean, organised and genuinely caring of all the transporters I’ve used.

Unfortunately, adoptions in the UK are unlikely because most cannot justify the cost of the transport, but that’s where you come in! If I can offer adoptions of cats in need for a more reasonable price, by subsidising the transport cost, cats are NINE TIMES more likely to find a happy forever home! So if you can donate a fiver or your week’s tips, or the spare cash you made from selling something you no longer need, you will be helping to provide an amazing lottery-win opportunity for a cat in need!!
