I am a 65-year-old woman with a disability. I care for a daughter who lost her sight 3 years ago due to diabetes. She is also a dialysis patient with chronic heart disease. In addition to caring for my daughter, I care for her 20-year-old daughter who suffers from major depression.
This morning, 9/18/2025 @ 9:00 am, the sheriff put a lock on our condo door for non-payment of $25,000, which does not include attorney's fees, sheriff's fees, and taxes.
How did we get to this situation? In June of 2023, I lost my job. I fought for a year through the court system but eventually was unsuccessful. During that time, my daughter became very sick and needed heart surgery. Medicaid would not give us any help; therefore, I had to pay with any savings I had. After major heart surgery, she had two subsequent cardiac arrests, so I went to New York for medical assistance. All the while, no payments were being made on my condo. The lack of payment for condo fees and taxes has led to this lockout.
I know the question on your mind is, "If we help now, what guarantee is there that this situation will not happen again?" The answer is, I applied for early retirement social security and was approved for $1,120. I also have some working still in me. My daughter is presently in rehab and while she is there, I will be able to work to pay some unpaid bills.
My total needs right now by 9/22/2025 to get back into my home is $50,000. I will not be able to find a home for the price of $50,000; therefore, I need to retain my home for myself, my daughter, and my granddaughter.
