StutterTime Apparel-Made to Empower

Growing up with a single mom and a stutter, I wasn't sure how to be heard. My stutter silenced me and caused me to withdraw. I would ask teachers for exceptions to class presentations, would avoid raising my hand or answering questions in class, and had difficulty making friends.  Through speech therapy, I heard about a camp for kids like me and, in order to get there, I made t-shirts and sold them to pay for my airfare and travel. After attending this camp, called SAY (Stuttering Association for the Young) dedicated to building confidence and a community for kids who stutter, my eyes were opened to a different reality.  I realized that I am not alone.  1-2% of the entire world stutters- that means 70,000,000 people- and no one seems to know much about it. It is now my mission to educate others about stuttering, empower the millions who do stutter.

I now know that what I have to say is worth hearing. My voice and message can no longer be silenced. I have a message that is important for others to hear and see. By creating merchandise like t-shirts, I'll bring awareness about stuttering to the greater population. My mom has taught me how to work hard and I plan to succeed. By funding my project, you will help an underserved and misunderstood population be heard.
