Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation is a First Nation in Treaty No. 8 territory. They have filed a lawsuit against Alberta and Canada for breach of Treaty and breach of the Honour of the Crown, over Bill 14 which enables the petition on the dismemberment of Canada without First Nation consent.
They have also brought an application for injunction to pause the legislation that enables the petition on the basis that it is causing irreparable harm.
We are asking for assistance with our legal fees and litigation expenses (court filing fees and expert reports). Any surplus of fundraised money will be used to further Treaty advocacy and education efforts organized by Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.
