Stump Family Medical Bills

My wife and I both suffer from rare medical conditions. I have Auto-Brewery Syndrome, a bacterial and yeast overgrowth that produces fermentation of food in the gut, resulting in high levels of alcohol and other toxins in the body. My wife, Jana, has multiple viral and bacterial infections, including Bartonella and Lyme disease. She has been suffering from these conditions for three years.

We have tried conventional doctors and had very little success. Most doctors, even at research hospitals and universities, don’t believe that my condition (ABS) even exists, or if they do, they don’t know how to treat it.  While Jana’s conditions are recognized by a lot of doctors, they don’t use proper treatment protocols.  Jana has been under the care of several practitioners that actually made her worse, rather than better. We are currently both being treated by MD’s in specialized practices. Because the nature of their treatments is not approved by insurance companies, none of our visits or treatments are covered by insurance. Even lab work that is usually covered by insurance is denied us because of the ordering physician.  Every penny of our medical bills for the past three years has been paid out of pocket and not counted toward our deductible, dispute having two insurance plans. 

My wife has become totally disabled because of her illness and our children are currently meeting with a counselor to help them work out their feelings. It’s been very difficult on our four children to see their parents so sick.

This has put a huge financial strain on our family and cost us thousands of dollars already. Our savings has been depleted by medical bills, and we still require treatment before we can live normal lives again.

For my total gut repair to take place, I need a fecal transplant, which involves completely replacing my gut micro biome.

My wife is currently trying to see a specialist in Texas and will require extensive visits, lab work, and prescription medications, none of which are covered by insurance and will total several thousand dollars.

We wouldn’t be signing up for this account, except for the fact that we are totally out of funds, have no extra money in our budget to even pay a monthly credit card bill for our healthcare, and still have a long way to go before we can have any type of normal life.  The money received through this fund will not go toward food, living expenses, bills, etc.  It will only be used to pay for doctors visits, medication, and lab work.

We would be grateful for any help anyone could give, even a few dollars.
