Hello friend. My name is Sean Montoya and I'm a homegrown New Mexican filmmaker and I’ve had a passion for creative/multi-media art since a very young age. Ever since my high school days, I have had a story weighing on my heart waiting to be told. “Stuffy” is a short film that follows two high-school social outcasts that have a wrench thrown into their budding friendship after one of them has been invited to the “The Premium Table.” Stephen Wooly and Willem Grey encapsulate what it’s like to lack the proper social tools and confidence during the most confusing and emotionally challenging time of an adolescent’s life. Stephen’s only form of real friendship exists through a glue-like bond with a sock monkey named Mani – meanwhile, Willem’s excuse for a connection with his peers is through filming everything around him on a DV Camera... even the most private, unconsented moments. Though this story has transformed over time via my rewrites as I, too, have evolved as a filmmaker, it’s key components and themes have stayed true. I have wanted to bring this to life for a very long time (since 2018 to be exact), but from switching schools, the rise of COVID-19 during my senior year of high school, and being thrust into adulthood, I’ve just never quite had the chance. Stephen, Mani, Willem and the other characters of “Stuffy” will finally come to life now that this short film is going into production this Spring. With your help, we will be able to afford food to feed our cast, supply costume and wardrobe, necessary props, and secure the safety of production for this strange yet heartwarming story of embracing unlikely friendships. If you’ve made it this far, thanks for your time and I cannot wait to share this story with you.
