Study Abroad in Tanzania
Hello all! My name is Katherine Hardisty, a Wildlife Biology major at Colorado State University. As part of my studies I have decided to study wildlife in Northern Tanzania through School for Field Studies.
I will be taking a full course load while abroad:
Introduction to Swahili
Techniques in Wildlife Management
Environmental Policy and Socioeconomic Values
Wildlife Ecology
Directed Research
The map below shows where I will be flying in and out as well as the different places the program will take me in my months abroad.
For more information on the program itself, this link will take you to a detailed description of what I will be doing in the Fall.

The program is quite expensive even excluding the gear, vaccines, and flights necessary to make it a successful trip. I hope to raise money through this platform to lessen the financial burden.
The money raised here will go to items such as:
A hiking backpack to carry gear in the field
A sleeping bag to stay warm while camping
A sleeping pad to be comfortable while camping
Biodegradable soap as I will be washing my own clothes
Training in Wilderness 1st Aid so I can be prepared in an emergency
Tuition
For those of you who know me, I love animals and am completely dedicated to my career choice. I am taking this trip in the hopes of gaining some real field experience to take with me when I graduate as well as to increase my influence in the conservation of endangered species.
Any help will be greatly appreciated and I will keep everyone updated on my trip after I depart. Thank you for helping me take the next step in my life.
