Hey, My name is Brittney Roundtree and I'm in college majoring in Education with a minor in Black Studies. I'm a full time mom to a wonderful 8 month old boy. This upcoming Summer my school is offering the opportunity of a lifetime, the chance to study abroad in Guatemala for almost a month. I'm reaching out to all friends and family to assist me raising money for this study abroad trip through MATC. Because I feel this is a learning opportunity that could only benefit my future, I am humbly asking for your support.
The group will be participating in a variety of fund-raising activities, but I will still fall short of the total trip cost which is $3,500 for three weeks of study, homestay, volunteer work. This price includes the airfare, Spanish immersion classes, cultural seminars and excursions, and the Guatemalan home-stay with meals provided. Although I have saved diligently and have applied for the $500 scholarship that MATC offers, I am still in great need of support. I am hoping that you will find it in your heart to help sponsor my dream of studying abroad.
This year we will be working on a water project with an impoverished town called Esperanza. This town has no drainage system and the citizens there are struggling to stay healthy in the face of dire circumstances. Our help will give children a true “shot” at being successful in school and in their life.
