Support for a research project on land-grabbing - Madagascar
Donation protected
My name is Eva and I am an external doctoral student in geography at the University of Lausanne.
The aim of this fundraiser is twofold: to enable me to finalize the writing of my thesis project and especially to make a short documentary film for the general public.
My thesis project focuses on one aspect of the land problem in Madagascar, namely how communities are trying to resist the various large- and small-scale land exploitation projects in order to retain their ownership or exploitation rights.
The aim of the documentary is to give a voice to those who have been dispossessed or have fought to keep their rights, while providing a framework for understanding what is at stake in their struggles.
Not everyone in the country has the means to make their voice heard, or is afraid of reprisals, which can be dangerous (This sensitivity is taken into account in the project). So you can imagine how important this subject is not only for these people, but also for other communities sharing the same struggles and insecurities. It's more important to them than my degree. And it's this fight for social justice that drives me and motivates me to bring this project to fruition.
The funds raised will be used to cover various expenses, including
Filming equipment: camera, microphone, lighting, and accessories needed to produce the documentary film.
Editing software: to ensure quality post-production.
Field trips: transportation costs to interview experts and participants, and to capture essential footage for the documentary.
Research costs: access to certain databases, purchase of books and other academic resources.
Production and distribution costs are not yet included, as this aspect is still under discussion.
Every contribution, big or small, will make a huge difference. In return, donors can be mentioned in the acknowledgements of my documentary, if they so wish. We can also discuss other ways of giving back. I will also share with you the evolution of my work through regular updates. In addition, I plan to organize an event to express my gratitude and allow everyone to see the impact of their generosity.
Thank you very much for your attention and support. Together, we can make this project a reality.
With gratitude,
Eva
