Greetings
I hope this message finds you well. I am Nigel Zuniga of San Diego California. For years I have been apart of the West African Drum & Dance community in San Diego and abroad. This drum and dance have wholeheartedly become my passion. Thru them I’ve gained what brings me joy, peace, healing, smiles, family, culture, and much more. I now have the wonderful opportunity to further my studies and understanding of this music and culture with a trip to West Africa(specifically Bamako, Mali & possibly more countries) to study in drum, dance and cultural immersion. This has been a longstanding dream of mines to travel to the places this music comes from and learn, so this will be my first opportunity to actually do that! I am excited, nervous, and everything in between
I am asking for my community and family near and afar to assist me with covering the costs of airfare, vaccine/meds, visa, and tuition. I look forward to going and soaking up as much as I can to bring it back and share with all the drum/dance community back at home(San Diego, Atl, LA), with the youth, adults, in the schools,and wherever else I’m fortunate to visit.
