I have been given the opportunity to study abroad with the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications in Switzerland and Austria this summer—an experience that will significantly shape my academic and professional future. As a student who relies fully on scholarships and financial aid, I am deeply grateful for the support that has brought me this far. To make this opportunity possible without placing myself in financial hardship, I am raising funds to help cover my remaining program balance and associated academic travel expenses.

Before my program officially begins, I will spend a few days in Italy to further immerse myself in the broader European cultural context. I view this time as an opportunity to enter my academic experience with greater cultural awareness and historical perspective.

Studying abroad has always been a dream of mine, and the UF CJC in Switzerland and Austria program will allow me to immerse myself in new cultures, partake in unique experiential learning opportunities, and strengthen cross-cultural communication skills. As an advertising major with the goal of becoming a copywriter for non-profits, being in such a culturally rich region will expand my perspective beyond the American audience and help me develop my creative voice. I am eager to see how cultural diversity in Central Europe shapes the way writers convey emotionally resonating messages through the Global Communication Systems class. I believe this experience will help me grow both personally and academically, and I am excited to bring back new ideas to share with my community.
