Study Abroad Program at XULA

Hola! I am Eden Jenkins, a 19 year-old Chemistry/Pre-Pharmacy major student at Xavier University of Louisiana, with Junior class status. I have been offered an incredible study abroad opportunity in San Jose, Costa Rica May 30th - June 28th. This Spanish for Health Care Professionals Program will enable me to fully immerse in the Spanish language and Costa Rican culture while taking Spanish 2051: Spanish for Medical Personnel and participating in clinical practicums in Costa Rican clinics and hospitals. I will be eligible to receive a Medical Spanish Certificate, as well as the Spanish Minor after completing this summer immersion program. The primary goal is for me to learn enough Spanish to be able to interact with Spanish-speaking patients.

I anticipate attending pharmacy school Fall 2020 at Xavier University of Louisiana, and this Spanish Immersion opportunity will instill even more confidence in my ability to better serve the diverse communities that I will encounter in my future career.
