Hi, my name is Kirstan Clifford, and I am creator and curator of STUDIO SERIES SHOW.
STUDIO SERIES SHOW was born out of my desire to nurture the independent, professional works of dance artists within the Austin community, after I transformed my small living room into a functioning studio and performance venue with my husband and engineer Richard Sniff. Choreographers immerse themselves in six months of moderated peer critiques and one-on-ones to support their process, all in preparation for performance.
STUDIO SERIES SHOW believes in the transparency of process and when there’s questioning and feedback within process, sophistication and intellectual depth are fostered. This transparency stimulates the discovery of creative allies within an artistic community.
STUDIO SERIES SHOW, for it's third iteration, will take place outdoors on May 30, May 31, and June 1 at 730pm and June 2 at 5pm. Each artist will have rehearsed, participated in critiques, and will perform outdoors, to radically embrace the effects of environment on art making.
Inspired by Toshiyuki Kita’s “Ceremony Space,” an open-air cube has been built for performance by Kimmy Lueders, Michaeli Brunk, and Dustin Lueders.
Your Role
In less than two years, STUDIO SERIES SHOW will have presented the works of 10 local choreographers (Alexa Capareda, Alyson Dolan, Bridget Morris, Emily Rushing, Katie Mae Hebert, Kirstan Clifford, Lauren Tietz, Meghan McCoy-Alchus, Michaeli Brunk, and Rae Fredericks) and is run by an expanding team of interdisciplinary artists. We need your help to continue to grow!
Support from your donations would enable STUDIO SERIES SHOW the means to continue its evolution as a platform and community incubator for Austin dance artists. It would provide funds to ensure higher payment to all participating artists and provide us with the means to create our next performance venue in Austin (inspired by Jorge Orteiza's Caja Metafísica por Conjución de Dos Triedros).
Your support would help to cover the costs of our current and future shows:
*participation fees for 4 artists, 1 moderator, 1 builder, 1 engineer, 1 MC, and 1 curator
*materials, design, and building costs for the open-air cube and future performance venue
*filmography and photography
*donation bar supplies
*production needs, like lighting and sound
*administrative tasks, like marketing and promotional materials
We thank all donors for your investment in artistic invention and we are inspired by your gratitude.
