Studio One Theaters Needs Your Help Reopening Our Doors:
As you may know we were forced to close our doors last March for three months due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. Through some ingenuity, and with a small PPP loan we managed to reopen with limited (25%) occupancy for a few months last summer and fall. Only to find ourselves once again shuttered by the Pandemic from November of last year until now. We are optimistic that with the Pandemic receding and the gradual lifting of government restrictions, a reopen date is on the horizon. However, this is where your assistance is needed. The cost of having our doors closed for over 6 months has put us in a deep hole financially. Our fixed costs alone (i.e. rent, property taxes, utilities, SBA business loans and insurance) average over $80,000 per month (even when we’re closed). We are a local, family owned business with our life savings invested in this dream, having fully mortgaged our home and the business. Over the last year, we have exhausted all government PPP payroll loan support as well as all of our personal funds to keep the business afloat. Unfortunately, we now find ourselves humbly reaching out to you, our valued friends, patrons and supporters to help us through these challenging times.
What Will Donations Be Used For?
Funds from this campaign will directly cover fixed monthly expenses, some necessary reopening operational costs, and further enhancements to our vital Covid19 health and safety measures for our staff and guests. Our current fundraising goal will allow us to reopen and will supplement our costs for the next three months (thru May 2021). We are optimistic that with vaccines, general business growth and your continued support, our pandemic related financial woes will be behind us.
Our Story:
Studio One Theaters is a local family owned multi plex movie theater serving the broader Portland metropolitan area. Located in the heart of SE Portland Oregon, Studio One Theaters opened on December 26th 2018. Our business represents a labor of love combining our passion for movies, fine dining, wine, visual arts and the performing arts. In our exclusive “Penthouse Auditoriums” we have created a one of a kind boutique theater experience where Patrons are able to escape into their favorite first run movies thru exclusive state of the art immersive technologies including: 4K Pure Laser Projection, and 128 channel Dolby ATMOS sound while dining. Each of our seven Penthouse Auditoriums also features luxurious custom designed fixed furnishings, and thematic decorations. Employing an array of visual special effects, virtual windows and creature comforts, the Penthouse Auditoriums transport you to some of the most beautiful cities in the world including New York, Paris, Tokyo, Rio, and Istanbul. While enjoying their movie, we provide our guests full in seat service from our farm to table world cuisine menu, as well as gourmet popcorn, and Portland’s largest list 21+ bar offerings: with over 50 wines by the glass, 12 beers on tap and a creative full specialty cocktail menu. Guests are also encouraged to listen to live music as we regularly feature some of Portland’s finest musical acts on our livestreaming 4K performance stage.
Community is at the heart of Studio One. Our love of community, both inside and outside our doors, is at the center of all that we do. We strive to connect with our patrons each and every time they come in for a visit. Whether it is a warm greeting and tour from an owner or a kind check-in from a staff member; Studio One is dedicated to offering an inviting experience for its community members. Studio One regularly books over 50 different talented, local musicians to perform on its live streaming 4K stage. Supporting this community is a very important part of our mission, as Portland’s small performance venues have been steadily declining. We also donate to over 100 local area charities, schools and civic organizations.
Although Studio One Theaters is relatively new to the movie, live performance and dining scene in Portland, the owners, one being a Portland native, both live in Portland. They have a long standing connection with the community through Cinetopia, a movie theater dining experience they previously owned. We have pledged an “all in” family financial investment to making this work and plan on being here for many years to come. Our lease commitment alone runs through the year 2038. None of us could have imagined all of the hardships this pandemic would place on our business and the community. It is with a great sense of humility, grace and gratitude that we reach out to you for help. We are confident that we will make it through this unprecedented Pandemic, if our fundraising goal is met. Allowing us to continue to share a gathering place to enjoy our love of movies, live music, and fine dining with the entire community. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated.
