About me
My name is Jeremi and this June I will graduate as a medical doctor from University of Cambridge, where I previously studied Physiology, Development and Neuroscience.
Originally from Poland, I come from a small town in an industrial region beleaguered by the worst health statistics in the country. Growing up surrounded by smog, where the coughs of my neighbors echoed the dire health reports, I realized that these statistics were not just numbers, but unique life stories behind familiar faces. My subsequent medical studies in the UK expanded my perspective, exposing me to effective data-driven health improvement strategies, offering hope that the health issues I have witnessed were not immutable.
My passion is the application of advanced statistical methods and AI to better understand, predict and ultimately enhance health outcomes for patients. Specifically, I'm interested in how we can improve the care for patients with diseases of brain and spine. To foster this passion, over the last 6 years, I have engaged in neurosurgical research, social and educational work. In recognition of my passion and academic achievements, I am proud to have been admitted to Harvard University to study for a Master's Degree in Quantitative Methods.
Finance
Harvard has an extremely low acceptance rate of just 3%. To receive an offer to study at this prestigious instutition is an enormous feat. In addition to a place on the course, I received two Harvard scholarships for my academic achievements. Unfortunately, this financial aid, although generous, will only cover half of the exorbitant tuition fees.
To accept my offer and receive financial certification
necessary for a Visa, I need to prove that I have a minimum of $69,600 in my bank account. The challenge is to rise this amount until the end of June.
Beyond securing the financial certification, the funds raised will be allocated towards:
1. Covering the costs of tuition.
2. Expenses related to obtaining a U.S. visa.
3. Relocation costs to Boston (airfare, shipping costs for my belongings, deposit for room rental, etc.).
In Boston, I'm planning to further support myself by working as a Teaching/Research Assistant at the University or one of the allied hospitals.
Why
The notion of 'What we cannot measure, we cannot improve' strongly resonates with me as it emphasises the transformative potential of integrating quantitative methods in clinical practice. I wholeheartedly believe such insights are essential for transforming data into knowledge to effect change. To this end, my ultimate ambition is to become a doctor-scientist, translating patient needs into data-driven healthcare innovation.
This vision aligns closely with Harvard’s forefront position in integrating data science and artificial intelligence into healthcare. Being able to study at such an institution would be a dream come true for me, providing me with an opportunity to grow professionally, build lasting connections, engage in interdisciplinary dialogue and contribute to shaping the future of healthcare.
Throughout my life, I have always strived to give back to the society and the communities that supported me. Now, my dream is to gain skills and knowledge that will allow me to devise actionable strategies to improve public health.
Thank you for hearing my story.
