Amid the Rubble and the Tears of Hope: The Story of a Young Woman Striving to Live
Hello,
My name is Asmaa Abd, a 24-year-old Palestinian girl — one of the thousands of souls fighting to survive every day in a land that has not known peace for decades.
My story, although it may resemble many others, carries a unique pain — a wound that the world does not see.
---
I lived like any girl with dreams… until that day came
I was a university student, studying psychological counseling at Al-Aqsa University.
I believed education was my only path to a better life — my only weapon against a painful and unjust reality.
I had a small room, big dreams, and a notebook where I wrote my hopes and plans...
But then —
An explosion shook our neighborhood.
And in a single moment, everything changed.
Our home was destroyed.
My notebooks burned.
My books were buried under rubble.
My mother cried like her soul had shattered.
From that day forward, I have known neither safety nor rest.
I lost everything — my home, my books, my source of income, my university life.
Everything stopped… except my tears.
---
️ Today, I live in a tent among ruins… the sky is my only roof
The tent that shelters me does not protect against the cold of winter or the burning heat of summer.
I sleep on the ground, wake up to the sound of warplanes, and spend my days trying to secure the basics: food, water, charging my phone, internet access... or reaching out for help, as I am doing now.
I never imagined I’d have to write something like this.
But here I am — writing with a heart full of shame, and hope that someone out there might hear me… and care.
---
I don’t seek luxury… just a chance to survive and live again
All I need is a small bit of help to begin again — to build a life with dignity, safety, and purpose.
I dream of returning to university.
Of rebuilding a place I can call “home.”
Of reclaiming my dignity.
I am not asking for more than what every human deserves:
Safety.
Education.
Hope.

Be the Reason I Rise… Don’t Leave Me Alone
Every donation — even one dollar — could mean everything to me.
You may think a small amount won’t change anything…
But for me, it could mean:
A meal
A notebook to write my dreams
A candle to light the dark night of fear
I am writing this from a tent that doesn’t protect me, with a cracked phone, a dying battery, and a heart that still believes good people exist in this world.

How the donations will be used:
All donations will be used solely for urgent personal needs and rebuilding my life with dignity:
Educational Needs: Tuition fees, books, a used laptop or phone to complete my studies in psychological counseling.
Safe Shelter: Renting a simple, secure place to live instead of the tent I currently sleep in.
Basic Needs: Food, clean water, clothes, hygiene items, and electricity access (charging, internet).
❤️ Health & Dignity: Medical checkups, basic mental health care, and personal items to feel like a human again.
Every single dollar will help me survive, study, and stand back on my feet with hope and strength.
Thank you for believing in me.
